After the ball .....

HISS 2011 is over. We had a fantastic time. There will be some souvenirs to show, some experiences to recount and reflections to ponder, and some items and information to pass on. The feedback forms were glowing!

What about HISS 2012? Everything's ready, with  the same brilliant cast of tutors plus the wonderful Viv Ellis. Go to the new web site, see what's happening, find the brochure, and sign up!

New web site: hiss.org.uk

(We've left a few of last year's pages here just for information.)

Is this for me?

HISS is for classical players who want a first taste of period style; for traditional players who want to try some early music; and for early music players who want to get more feel for the traditional elements that were the common currency of the time.

People from these backgrounds will bring very different skill sets. To get the best from the course, you should be able to:
  - sight-read music (at least slowly);
  - be prepared to learn simple tunes by ear;
  - be prepared to try improvising in easy situations;
  - players should be able to cope with keys up to 2 flats or 2 sharps;
  - singers who can sing one-to-a-part will be welcome, but that will not be essential.

The venue has good accessibility.
